Input Solid Shaft Gear Box is the one used to drive pumps with relatively short shafts, less than 30 to 50 ft long. It hence is used for driving almost all process pumps and circulators. Input Solid Shaft Gear Box provides more positive shaft alignment which is especially important when the pumps have mechanical seals rather than packing.
